About Mikronia Consulting
Mikronia Oy was established in 2020 by Petri Aho. Initially, the company’s idea was to produce analytics and consulting services related to asbestos/fibrous minerals and other indoor air particles for the construction and mining industries. Gradually, the central core of the company’s operations shifted towards consulting, with the clientele mainly consisting of players in the mining sector. Currently, most of the the company’s assignments are related to geological tasks in the mining sector, microscopical work and development of data services and data tools.
The company’s name comes from the micrometer, or one-thousandth of a millimeter. With the company’s focus increasingly on consulting, Mikronia Consulting was adopted in marketing. Subsequently, services have gradually included features related to programming, as well as data processing and analytics, to which the name Mikronia also fits very well.

I graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Oulu, from the geology & mineralogy program in the late 2000s. Since then, alongside my work, I have completed a wide range of courses complementing geological expertise, including sample collection, QAQC, modeling, geostatistics, and programming (Python/SQL). In addition to my job, I have also earned a diploma gemologist degree and an entrepreneur’s professional qualification.
My post-graduate geologist career began in Finnish Lapland, where I worked as a mine geologist at the Kittilä mine between 2009-2011. In 2011, I moved to Australia, where I lived for three years working on iron and manganese projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. After returning home from Australia, I worked in asbestos analytics and concrete petrography at different laboratories before starting my own business.
Hobbies:
I get easily and often excited about various things, so my hobbies vary quite a bit. My longest-standing hobbies are probably music and jogging. I also handle gemstones more or less regularly.

- Utilizing data in practical processes
